The Burlington Free Press is a daily newspaper based in Burlington, Vermont, in the United States. With a circulation of about 48,042 daily and 56,295 Sundays, it is the most circulated paper in Vermont.
The Free Press Weekly started publication in 1827. A daily evening edition was added in 1848 with the advent of the telegraph. The Free Press Association was founded in 1868. Also that year, the plant of the Burlington Times was purchased and the Times, after 10 years of publication, merged with the Free Press. Morning, evening and weekly editions were published until 1882, when the evening edition was discontinued. In 1897, controlling interest of Free Press was bought by Willard B. Howe, business manager at the time.
