Introduction

JCDecaux operates in 45 countries (including Australia), competing with Clear's Clear Advertising for example. In the UK it controls an estimated 36% of all large advertising panels. Operations include free-standing and wall-mounted advertising posters (billboards), signage on street furniture such as bus shelters and kiosks, and indoor displays in retail malls and airports. Overall it operated more than 700,000 advertising displays across 3,500 cities in 2006.

The group claims to be world's leading manufacturer of Automatic Public Conveniences (APCs), with more than 4,000 APCs installed as of 2006.

The group was founded by Jean-Claude Decaux in 1964. His family has a 73% stake as of October 2006.
