Mid-2000 Hollinger owned 379 newspapers worldwide, down
from over 400 in the previous decade and further reduced
through the sale during 2000 and 2001 of its Canadian
newspapers to CanWest.
As of November 2003, the group consists of a cluster of
papers in and around Chicago, the Daily Telegraph
and associated publications in the UK, a 13% stake in
a new New York daily, printing joint ventures in the UK,
38 minor newspapers in Canada and interests in Israel.
